How to Get All Masks in Majora's Mask

This is a guide of how to get every mask in The Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask. The four transformation masks will be listed first, then most other masks will be categorized by area you get them, finished by all masks that are part of the Anju and Kafei Sidequest.

Transformation Masks

Deku Mask

user uploaded image

You spend the first three day cycle as Deku Link. After collecting a Moon's Tear in the Bomber's Hideout, you can sell it to a Deku Scrub in South Clocktown to use a Deku flower. Hopping in this flower will help you reach the top of the Clocktower, where you can confront Skull Kid, get the Ocarina of Time back, and go back in time to the first day. Upon arriving, go inside the bottom of the Clocktower and talk to the Happy Mask Salesmen. He will teach you the Song of Healing, which turns Link back to normal and turns his transformation into a mask.

You got the Deku Mask!

Entering Great Bay Coast, there will be a dying Zora out in the ocean. Find him and push him back to shore. He'll play a song for you in his dying breath before passing out in front of you. Play the Song of Healing to trigger another emotional cutscene. Afterwards, he will fade away, leaving behind his mask.

Fierce Deity's Mask

You need all 20 non-transformation masks to obtain this. Your final story objective is to confront Skull Kid again, and this will take you to the inside of the moon. In the center of the inside, there is a large tree with five children playing around it. Talk to the four children that wear masks of the game's bosses, and they'll ask you to give them your masks. Give some to each to play a game with each, and then give some more at the end of each game. You continue this process until you've played with every child and given away all masks except your transformation masks. The fifth child, wearing Majora's Mask, will ask to play with you. If you've played with the other four children prior, the fifth will give you a mask of his own.

Don't worry, after facing the final boss, you'll get your masks back.

Clocktown Masks

Great Fairy's Mask

There is a Great Fairy Fountain in North Clock Town. To awaken the Great Fairy, you need to find a Stray Fairy located in the town's Laundry Pool during the day and East Clock Town at night. Once you give back the stray fairy, the Great Fairy will awaken and give you her mask. This can only be done after the first three day cycle.

This mask can only be obtained if you saved the old lady with the bomb bag earlier in the three day cycle (see "Blast Mask"). Even if you already have the mask, you can still save the old lady in later three day cycles. On night of the final day, starting at 10 PM, the Curiosity Shop will have a Mask for sale... for 500 rupees. You need the Giant's Wallet to be able to buy this mask so you can fit in 500 rupees.

After completing Woodfall Temple, hop across the lily pads in the swamp until you find a house covered in a spider web. Burn the web and enter the Swamp Spider House. Don Gero's Mask

In the Mountain Village, there's a Goron stuck up on a ledge and is too weak to get down. After you enter the Goron Shrine in Goron Village and finish the quest where you calm the Elder's son, there'll be some lit torches in the room. Use a Deku stick to carry the flame to all torches that haven't been lit, and the chandelier will start spinning. Use your Goron rolling powers with the Goron Mask to ride a ramp and slam into parts of the Chandelier. Inside one will be Rock Sirloin, which you can take back to this hungry and weak Goron. Romani Mask

First, you must do a quest at 2:30 A.M. on the first night. You have to defend Romani's Ranch from ghost/alien creatures. Romani will reward you with some milk, but this also opens up a quest at the start of night of the second day.

Here, at Romani's Ranch, talk to her sister Cremia, who is on a wagon. She'll give you a ride to Clock Town, but you have to defend the wagon from the Gorman Brothers with your bow, as they're trying to destroy the milk bottles Cremia is delivering. When you make it to Clock Town, you'll receive a mask from Cremia.

Great Bay Masks

Stone Mask (3DS Version)

user uploaded image

The locations of this mask differs from both versions of the game. In the 3DS version, a soldier can be found in the large, central area of the Pirate's Fortress. However, he is invisible unless you use the Lens of Truth. Talk to him and give him a red potion, and he'll give you a mask.

You got the Stone Mask

Ikana Masks

Stone Mask (N64 Version)

The soldier is found in Ikana Valley. You still have to use the Lens of Truth, and you still have to give him a red potion.

You got the Stone Mask (again, sort of)

Captain's Hat

In Ikana Graveyard (found in Ikana Valley), there is a giant, sleeping stalchild. Play the Sonata of Awakening to wake him up, and it'll trigger a mini boss fight with him. Beat him, and he'll give you access to a treasure chest with a hat.

Gibdo Mask

In Ikana Canyon, there's a cave near the top where you'll find a poe. Play the Song of Storms, and a cutscene will happen that starts the Music Box House to start playing music. Back at the house, create some noise with a bomb, and a little girl named Pamela will come out of the house. Hide from her at the side of the house so she doesn't see you. She'll walk away, and as the coast is clear, head inside. Inside, you'll find her father, who is cursed to look like a gibdo. Play the Song of Healing, and it will heal him, leaving behind a mask.

You got the Gibdo Mask

Giant's Mask

Inside Stone Tower Temple, you'll find this mask. In the N64 version, it'll appear in a chest after fighting an enemy known as an Eyegore. In the 3DS Version, it'll appear in a chest halfway through a boss fight with Twinmold.

Anju and Kafei Sidequest Masks

The last 4 masks listed are part of a sidequest lasting all three days, and you obtain these masks within a specific sequence of events you trigger.

Kafei Mask

user uploaded image

This is the first Mask in the Anju and Kafei quest. If you go to the Mayor's Residence in East Clock Town, you can find an NPC name's Madame Aroma, who gives you the mask in hopes that it'll help you find her son Kafei.

You got the Kafei Mask

Keaton Mask

user uploaded image

This is the second mask in the Anju and Kafei quest. After going to the Stock Pot Inn in East Clock Town and talking to Anju in the afternoon on the first day (after 2 PM), you'll meet her in the kitchen at midnight and obtain a letter (you can enter the Inn at night using a Deku Flower outside and going in from the second floor). Put the letter in any mailbox in town, then wait at the Laundry Pool until 3 PM on the second day. After the postman comes rings a bell, Kafei will come out to retrieve his mail. Sneak inside his house when this happens. Inside, he'll come back, talk, and give you a pendant. Take this to Anju, as this is important for later in the quest.

On Day 3 in the afternoon, you can go back to Kafei's house and find the man who runs the Curiosity Shop. Talk to him, and he'll give you a mask, as well as a letter to Kafei's Mom.

You got the Keaton Mask

Postman's Hat

user uploaded image

Before getting this hat, you should first go to the beginning area of Ikana Canyon at the beginning of night of the final day. You and Kafei will hide behind a rock and watch Sakon the Thief open the door to a secret cave (don't let him see you). Run inside the cave and do a puzzle and action sequence before you're able to reach the Sun Mask, which Kafei will obtain. Remember this for the next mask.

After this, go back to Clock Town, go to West Clock Town, and enter the Post Office and give the letter for Kafei's mom to the Postman while he's going through a crisis. Follow him to the Milk Bar where he'll deliver the letter, and then he'll flee town. Talk to him at the town gates, and he'll give you his hat.

You got the Postman's Hat

Couple's Mask

user uploaded image

After doing every event listed in the previous 3 masks, go to the Stock Pot Inn and enter a room at the top of the stairs where Anju is waiting. Kafei will enter at 4:30 A.M. and share an emotional moment with Anju. They'll give you a mask filled with their love.
